Jon Cabral
Jon Cabral is a former retreat participant who experienced the Journalism Retreat in December of 2008. Since then, Jon completed an internship with the joint news operations of WWOR-TV and WNYW-TV, where he had the opportunity to work with Brenda and her colleagues. “The Journalism Retreat provided a great synopsis of what it was like to be inside an actual news operation. I was able to explore the different aspects of television news in a very hands on setting. This experience enabled me to form connections with multiple people at station and eventually led to my internship experience with WWOR/MY 9,” said Jon.
During his internship at the station, Jon made a great impression on the staff and news team, including Brenda, who invited him back to participate in the Journalism Retreat as one of her experts. “It was great being able to come back and speak with my fellow colleagues while also being able to share my experiences with fellow students,” continued Jon.
Jon graduated with a B.A. in Communication Arts from Caldwell College. Shortly after graduating, Jon landed a job with a North Jersey based marketing firm, eventually working his way up to Creative Services Director.

When asked about advice for recent graduates in these tough economic times, Jon stated: “Through persistence, faith, and determination you can achieve the seemingly unattainable. Always thank those who share their time and expertise with you. Always remain true to yourself, never losing sight of your goals and dreams.”
